Data-driven control

A recommendable tutorial paper is
- Bristow, D.A., M. Tharayil, and A.G. Alleyne. “A Survey of Iterative Learning Control.” IEEE Control Systems 26, no. 3 (2006): 96–114. https://doi.org/10.1109/MCS.2006.1636313.

A little bit more recent overview by the same authors is the chapter
- Bristow, Douglas A., Kira L. Barton, and Andrew G Alleyne. “Iterative Learning Control.” In The Control Systems Handbook, 2nd ed., 857–76. Boca Raton: CRC Press, 2011. https://doi.org/10.1201/b10384.
There are a few monographs on the topic as well. I will not list them here as I have not read them and you can easily look them up. No particular recommendation.
The (even more) data-driven version of ILC I mention in the lecture is described in
- Bolder, Joost, Stephan Kleinendorst, and Tom Oomen. “Data-Driven Multivariable ILC: Enhanced Performance by Eliminating L and Q Filters.” International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control 28, no. 12 (2018): 3728–51. https://doi.org/10.1002/rnc.3611.
The last author - Tom Oomen - is a professor at TU Eindhoven and apparantly he is one of current leaders of development of ILC. Clearly he benefits from the same opportunities as his colleagues in Eindhoven, that is, closeness to hi-tech industry (Philips, ASML, ...) and his paper always reflect appreciation of practical chalenges. Pretty much in the spirit of another famous (and still active) professors in Eindhoven - Maarten Steinbuch. It is wise to keep an eye on their work.
But the Eindhoven guys are not the only ones who keep developing the ILC methodology. There are a few more authors and papers in which ILC is formulated as an optimization problem
