Dear students enrolled to "Optimal and Robust Control" course,

my name is Zdenek Hurak and I am the one who has prepared the course for you and will guide you through it (see more about me at my group's webpage http://aa4cc.dce.fel.cvut.cz/users/zdenekhurak).

The semester has just started and we are going to meet in a while (on Wednesday, see details below). Still, I would like to approach you even before our first meeting. The reason is that I would like to make our meeting(s) as efficient as possible and for that I would like to ask you kindly to consider if you can find some time to watch the videos I prepared for the first week. The videos are linked from the course Moodle website https://moodle.fel.cvut.cz/course/B3M35ORR (see the block for the first week). In fact, the videos are on the Youtube: AA4CC channel, ORR playlist https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMLojHoA_QPmRiPotD_TnfdUkglTexuqm (the titles of the videos for the first week start with L1), but accessing the videos from Moodle may be more convenient.

If you can't squeeze it into your schedule, do not worry. The material is mostly standard and most probably you have already been introduced to it earlier in some course. In fact, you can check the weekly learning goals explicitly stated at https://moodle.fel.cvut.cz/mod/page/view.php?id=177503. Perhaps if the concepts ring a bell, feel free to skip the videos. Or watch them later this week.

Should you find time to watch the videos, please, after watching them (and ideally before our meeting), fill in the Online quiz #1 (referenced from the Moodle block for the first week, direct link: https://moodle.fel.cvut.cz/mod/quiz/view.php?id=177516). The (multiple-choice) quiz is pretty straightforward and only checks if you got the basic concepts. No challenging problem solving. Furthermore, do not worry, it is essentially assessed just for you to get some feedback, it will not have an impact on the final course grade.

Finally, let's meet online on Wednesday, February 17, 11am, using the Microsoft Teams. The video  conference will be run within the "team" dedicated to the course at https://teams.microsoft.com/l/team/19%3a0f4c902cc9c6445aa950a60b5c17348f%40thread.tacv2/conversations?groupId=6a3a24a9-7e14-41d3-a0f7-50ea72d4f20b&tenantId=f345c406-5268-43b0-b19f-5862fa6833f8. I guess that you must have been added to that team automatically. We will go through the rest of the organizational instructions then.

Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday,
Zdenek Hurak
