today while emphasizing that the MPC methodology is very much based on a (mathematical) model of a system to be controlled, I also mentioned that there is currently intensive research on model-free or data-driven version of predictive control. I informed you that I ran a course on the topic a few month ago for some foreign engineers (in fact, the course was on a broader topic of data-driven control, not just predictive control) and I showed you the dedicated moodle page. Well, in fact, if you find it interesting and worth learning/exploring, we can perhaps even formulate it as a semestral topic for our course (like use data-driven predictive control for one of our - or someone else's at FEL - laboratory gadgets).
