Quizzes and homework problems assessed (almost) only to give learning feedback (aka formative assessment)

The primary motivation for introduction of the online quizzes and homework problems (as described above) was to help your learning process (you receive feedback in "real time'). Your performance in quizzes and homework problems does not affect the final grades.

Threshold must be passed in quizzes and homework assignments to earn credit ("zápočet" in Czech)

Besides their use for providing an (almost) immediate learning feedback to students, the assessments of quizzes and homework solutions are also used to justify granting a credit ("zápočet" in Czech). The bar is not high, but if you are neglecting the quizzes and homework assignments, your passing will be in danger. Namely, at least 50% of competences (demonstrated in quizzes and homework problems) must be provably mastered.

Exams: final and mid-term

The final grades will be based on two exams – one in the middle of the semester (mid-term exam) and one at the end (final exam).

The final exam will have both written and oral parts (the written part will be realized for all students at once).

The mid-term exam will only have a written (or computer) part.

The actual algorithm for composing the results from the two exams will only be announced in the first few weeks of the course.

Semestral project needed for the A grade

Students with ambitions to be graded A must successfuly submit the technical report for their semestral project.

Grading table

Eventually, in order to set the final grade (A through F) we just compute the percentage of the competences successfully demonstrated during the exam, see the table below.

Grading Knowledge Skills Laboratory project
A 90 % 90 % 1
B 80 % 80 %
C 70 % 70 % -
D 60 % 60 % -
E 50 % 50 % -
