although not immediately related to the course, let me share one particular information with you. Well, perhaps you may even conclude that it actually is related to (what we did in) the course.
A former graduate from our study program and a former colleague at our department – dr. Petr Havel (https://www.linkedin.com/in/petrhavel/) – has just founded his own company (https://www.linkedin.com/company/optimwise-sro/about/, https://www.optimwise.cz/) oriented towards industrial control and optimization, and he is now searching for students for summer internships and possibly for longer collaboration. Besides the provided description, let me add a more personal comment. Petr is not only a former Ph.D. graduate from our department but a former colleague as well, because after the graduation he worked with us for a few years as a teacher, supervisor and researcher. You can certainly find in the official Survey (Anketa in Czech) from around some 10 years ago that he was quite popular among students. Similarly you can check that he was quite productive as a junior researcher as well (https://scholar.google.cz/scholar?hl=cs&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=petr+havel+control&btnG=). I am mentioning all this only to express my conviction that collaborating with Petr is certainly recommendable while you are students. The thing is that I do not always recommend to our students to start collaborating with a company while they still have study obligations, because the companies do not respect and/or understand them (those study obligations). I am quite positive that with Petr your possible work for the company could be made aligned (and not orthogonal) with your study. Perhaps together you can even formulate some attractive yet practicaly relevant final thesis assignment. I am ready to serve as a sort of co-supervisor if that work is related to advanced (optimal or optimization-based) control.
