BE5B35LSP - Logic systems and processors
The course is an introduction to basic hardware structures of computing resources, their design, and architecture. It provides an overview of the implementation of data operations at hardware and the creation of embedded processor systems with peripherals on advance programmable logic FPGAs.
The course requires basic knowledge of logic functions and binary numbers presented in APOLOS prerequisite, see http://dcenet.felk.cvut.cz/edu/fpga/doc/Apolos_V11_eng.pdf

Exam Conditions in 2020/21
Your grade depends on the sum of points from the exercises and from the written test according to the following table:
- A - 90 points or more
- B - 80 - 89.5 points
- C - 70 - 79.5 points
- D - 60 - 69.5 points
- E - 50 - 59.5 points
- F - Less than 50 points
Comment:
1) The written test has a maximum of 60 points to give a chance even those who did not master practical circuit designs.
2) Its questions are divided into two blocks - basic and advanced topic. If someone gains less than half of the points in a block, the score is reduced by one degree. If someone does not reach half in both blocks, then two degrees. Learning less than half is not a prerequisite for a favorable assessment. You can certainly refuse the grade and come next time.
Attention: Everyone must take a written exam. The exceptions did not work in the past.
Credit conditions
Everyone who gets at least 25 points out of 50 possible gains credits. In the winter semester 2020/21, we expect remote education, thus, students will solve 3 smaller-scale tasks. For the first two ones, they obtain detailed explanations and solved examples that apply to your own input data. They finally solve the last task individually. All task can be solved mainly by simulations.
- Task 1 - 10 points - the beacon with morse code (as a warm-up), we explain the most of the design in the exercises - a deadline at the end of November 2020.
- Task 2 - 10 points - City-label size 320x240 pixels. There is a detailed tutorial for the task at our webpages - a deadline the Christmas.
- Task 3 - up to 30 points - Light snake with bouncing on switches- until the end of the credit week.
Attendance to practical exercises is only recommended due to the coronavirus situation.
